Until the world stops turning.

Me puso cómo ejemplo “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” (¿colocón o dibujo infantil?).

It is nice to see an artist grow, I like to see the little or big changes, the different details in a same song when some months or even a year have passed between the listens. I like to see an artist on stage and remember that some time ago, everything was more awkward. I like to be able to compare and see the evolution of an artist.
That’s exactly what happens with Bobby Long. I haven’t follow his career from its beginning, but for enough time to feel proud of what he’s doing. I knew about him because a friend of his sang a song Bobby co-wrote in a soundtrack of a movie. But I listened to his music and I liked it. And I’ve kept liking it for months because, even if I see him live once, twice or six times, singing more or less the same songs, it doesn’t feel repetitive. And it’s wonderful to know that he will be publishing his first album on February, because that’s like a dream come true. For him, of course.
And there are people that deserve their dreams coming true.
We could say that his style is American folk. He just needs his guitar and his harmonica. He plays the guitar with a special picking, and he composes really beautiful songs, open for any interpretation. He once told me that he doesn’t like to tell what his songs are for him, because he likes to listen to what others take from them. He told me the example of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” (drug trip or a child’s drawing?).
He’s smart, he’s earning everything with hard work, without taking benefits from easy opportunities. With that effort, he got a record deal with ATO Records early this summer and will publish his first album, A Winter Tale, on February 1st 2011. I think he knows every little place in the U.S.A, there aren’t a lot of places left for him to play in.
I may be wrong, but I think he still has a long way to go. And he may be tired, but he will walk along that way, because he’s doing what he likes to do.

  1. I heart Bobby. He’s amazing. I totally agree with you bout the differences in his performances. That’s why I’m into this music, singer/songwriting, being on the road constantly. Artists growing in a way you just can’t make up.

I’m so excited for his album.
